For High Voltage
High Voltage is a new improv comedy troupe at my high school. They requested a high-energy logo that would reflect their ethos and dedication to fostering a love for improvisational theatre.
I was attracted to the motif of a hand getting shocked, as improv necessitated quick reflex and on-the-spot interaction. Taking from the graceful hands depicted in Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam as humorous contrast and the retro lightning bolts on Zenith Electronics appliances, an old-school soda-pop-shop logo was born. The design was made to be easily adaptable across t-shirts and posters.
